| Depends on the game. But the most important use is for Contra. Gives you 30 extra lives. A must for completing it, unless you are a gaming god:)

There is a list on Wikipedia for the code. Looks like hundreds of games uses the code, and not only on nes.

| When I was little, about 6 or so, me and my friend played Contra so many times during the summer. I do not remember if we beat it, but dang it was annoying at times, I can remember some of the boss fights that we started yelling at the TV so much my father had to come inside to room to make sure we weren't killing each other with out "YOU DID IT WRONG!" "YOU SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED ME!" screams. Good times.
